CMB Partnerships

The CMB acts as a research provider for, and is a research partner to a number of organisations (see below). For more information on the CMB projects undertaken with/for these organisations please click on the links below.

The CMB is a partner in a consortium that was awarded a CRC grant for Environmental Biotechnology. Other institutions involved include Queensland University, Macquarie University, Murdoch University, the South Australian Research and Development Institute, Meat & Livestock Australia, the Australian Meat Producers Corporation, Orica Australia Pty Ltd, Ecowise Environmental and Collex.
Biosignal (ASX: BOS) was formed in 1999 to act as the vehicle for commercialisation of "smart molecules" identified from the Centre's research activities. The company was successfully listed on the ASX in April 2004 .The Centre has an on-going relationship with Biosignal as a provider of research services.
The CMB acts as a direct research provider for Orica Australia Pty Ltd through two different projects: (i) The production of dense non-aqueous phase liquid degrading cultures and (ii) Microbial community characterisation for bioprocessing of chlorinated hydrocarbon contaminated groundwater
The CMB has a five-year research program with the J. Craig Venter Institute in Rockville, Maryland, USA. Funding for the program comes from the Betty and Gordon Moore Foundation and the Australian Research Council. The program has the main aims to explore microbial diversity and discover novel bioactives with modern genomic technologies.
